  • I'll admit, I'm a little Biased...

But seriously, there are a few decent ones out there. Unfortunately, Most training will group short sales and foreclosures together. CDPE is good and most popular and the new NAR one SFR is also popular as well. As an agent myself, I'm more into resources, and which one is going to get LISTINGS!! As far as what the asset managers look for, they don't care what you have for the most part. Unfortunately most of the training designations are just a ploy to get money for people to join referral based programs (such as titanium and equator). Not saying they don't refer out TONS of BPO's and REO's, but their training is just a way to get more $$$. Not a bad thing, as they both deliver, just a reality.

There is absolutely no substitute for experience!! Its all about who you know when it comes to REO's, and treating them like they want to be treated and giving them the service they expect! Short Sales are a little different.
    • Thanks for the advice. I have the SFR and have taken the short sale course thru Realtor University as well. These courses offer a lot of good infromation, but seem to be obsolete within weeks after the course. Now that most of the banks are using companies like Equator to negotiate the short sale process, I feel that the short sales should move along a little faster which is great, but it also cuts up the pie one more time. Not complaining, I have worked with them in the past and will continue to do so. I am looking for training that will really help me communicate with asset managers on an even professional level. Also looking for training and insight on internet presence. Any advice there? Thanks for the info and I will check our CDPE.
      • I agree with you. We created the course a few months ago, and due to changes in the HAFA program we are going through and making some updates on it right now!

We work with thousands of homeowners around the country every month. We would MUCH rather refer a homeowner to an agent who has actually closed a few short sales than one who took a training class. It sounds like you are looking for some true REO training. Harris University is decent, check them out as well!
        • I would recommend RDCPRO certification offered by the default school. Many companies I work with require or recommend it. Finally finished the A-REO certification for Old Republic. It seemed to be never ending.
