Equator????

I've had a Equator account for several years. I basically get no business from it. I had 4 BOA listings I got through USRES but oddly enough they were serviced on Equator. I hadn't been in there for ahwile but they keep charging my credit card for zip codes. Now I see I have to pay 2 dollars if I want my Photos displayed. I have to pay a $1 for brochure etc? I was wondering what others thought about this? Also if anyone is doing business throught Equator etc? I think I'm just throwing $50 a month away. Any info would be helpfull. Thanks.

  • I"ve paid them a lot of money for zip codes and platinum memebership and all I got was a few BPO's a couple of years ago. I wonder if anyone is doing business on Equator they put out this ads that are like 70000 properties distributed through equator last month etc. I think it may just be complete BS. I had my worst year in 10 years of REO last year But I was asked to do more training ( of course training I pay for from the companies I work with) You get there and the only update they give you is business is slowing down. Well then why are you asking me to drop 3K to come to Dallas , Fort Worth , Palm Springs, ,DC etc? When I was ginning I could see needing urgent updates ,training etc.

    Thanks for your response.

    • Zac . . . the one thing I have learned about the REO/BPO industry is that it is a "growth industry."  For something to grow and flourish, it has to have nutrients.  Companies like Equator, ResNet and others do not survive solely on the corporations that use them; their bottom line is increased by the additional revenue stream that comes directly from the agents that use them.  And believe me . . . they have it all figured out.  The lure of "easy" listings is enticing, and a lot of agents wanting to get into the REO business are willing to give it the ol' college try.  Keep your money in your pocket and do like Justine recommends . . . just eliminate the additional zip codes and keep your office one on file.  As for paying for your photo to be on the site, I don't think there is an asset manager out there who bases his or her decision to hire you on what you look like.  You may as well put a photo of Sponge Bob on your profile!  You'd probably get more of a reaction!
