New to REO & BPO's, where should I start?

I've been a Realtor in Milwaukee WI for over 11 years and I've been a buyers agent on many REO properties but I've never tried to market myself for REO listing or BPO's. The winters are long in WI and the market slows down considerably so I'm looking to keep busy.

My question is, what are the best companies to work for? Free or with monthly subscriptions. Which companies should I avoid? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

  • Do yourself a favor and stay away from the auto-acquisition guys. A contact of mine in the industry told me that quite a few of the companies are going to make sweeps of their data bases and ban and/or delete anyone using them since using them is against most of their companies policies. I got bumped from 2 sites already. They say it’s not fair to the guy who is doing it the right way and not cheating to beat the system.

A few are even talking about banning the use of auto-fill software. I know SAM, CA and GRC have it in their Co policies.

  • Start with the above link that says REO COMPANIES. Read through discussions. How did you find this website? Do more of that. Join RES.NET.  Join related LinkedIn groups.  Go to REOExpo at least once. Read DSNews.

  • Hey Jay, good question.  If you want advertising/marketing, then check out www.raveprofile.com. We do not follow the boring antiquated written content of paragraphs about yourself. All accounts are video content of yourself that you could modify. Check it out.Regarding REO's, it is hard to get the foot in. There are a lot of "untrustworthy" solicitations that I am sure you get a lot of calls on. Always do your due diligence before making an impulse decision that you will regret later. Equator and Res.Net are platforms but you are 1 of 100's trying to do the same thing. Signing up with Fannie/Freddie is free. Just my 2-cents.
