  • Hi Marianna,

Hopefully NFSTI Certification helps people as much as any other REO certification out there. We are only 3 years old (the youngest of all the major certifications and organizations in REO), and still have a long way to go.

The best thing that I ever heard someone say about certification is that it's only as good as the recognition that it gets. After running around REOMAC & Five Star this year with my NFSTI Golden Feather Lapel pin on I can say 3 things: (1) There are still people who are figuring out what NFSTI is, (2) There are a lot of people who do know what NFSTI is, and (3) Those who are NFSTI REOMasters Network certified are a very tight-knit group of very high-quality character.

The main objective of this certification is to establish with the REO professional community that a person carrying this certification has taken the time/initiative to pass the exam(s), which in turn means that they had to study the material. This is to help overcome the obstacle that is often faced by an asset manager when dealing with the proposition of utilizing the services of an agent/broker for the first time when their career, bonuses, and name are on the line. As Ned Flanders (see "Ask the AM") always puts it "Asset Managers Don't Like Surprises."

I hope that you get some good feedback on this forum (not just mine since I'm clearly biased). I know of a lot of agents on REOPro through the NFSTI organization (now NFSTI REOMasters Network). You can also seek them out on our agent search database on the NFSTI website.

Best of luck to you in your endeavors,

    Dan Waterman
