I would like to open a asset management company and I'm unsure of how to go about this.Has anyone thought that this would be the ideal add on to a full service brokerage company.Or do the banks own the Asset Management companies?

You might consider reaching out to the asset managers on Chuck Bukhari's Direct link to REO and BPO companies contact list on his blog, posting your question on LinkedIn as well and going to coventions/events where you will likely run into asset managers. One source that is not used as much as it should is your local library. You'd be surprised what you can learn from others who have blazed the trail. Hope this helps with your goal.
