REO Expo in Texas 2012

Looking for any advice on this discussion.  I have committed myself to this event as well as the 5 Star Conference in September.

I had signed up for 10 sessions at the REO Expo and so far have been booted out of 5 due to lack of experience.  I expect 3 others to decline me for the same reason, as with these, my risks were higher of getting in, and I think its just a matter time.  Some of these were open to all agents but I guess lack of space is the issue.

If you were a newbie at either of these events and had success with something you did, please let me know.  I have flyers and another marketing piece that I have ready but being that I have not been to either, I don't know what to expect or focus on.   Thanks in Advance.

  • Hi there Ray!  Stop by our booth at the Short Sale Specialist Network.  Sounds like you have some good things ready to go which will help you.  It is ALL about networking at these things.  You can meet ONE good asset manager and it is worth it.  Though I'm not an REO agent, I've been a veteran at all of these conferences for a few years now and see what is working for many.

    • Mike, I did forget to mention that you are sooooo right when you said it only take "ONE" good contact to make all this worth it.  So I'm hoping that even 1 out of both conferences would be a really good thing. :-)

    • Thanks Mike...I will definitely stop by.

      • While you want to maximize your networking, try to relax and don't be a pest.   REO is not for every agent, and by showing up at the conference you are already ahead of probably 95% of agents out there(as agents in the U.S. are over a million at least)

If you are able to present yourself as financially stable enough to handle utilities, repairs, etc, and can follow up after the conference with a thank you note--you should be fine.

Shoot me an email anytime to info@default-solutions.com for more info, glad to help.

        • Rick,,,,Thanks a lot for the advice...I know what I'm up against and right now its like swimming upstream. Veteran reo agents are telling me to take another path, but I see new agents getting into this sector, so I'm not ready to give up. I know that this field is not all the glit and glamour it appears as I have seen a lot of the ugly....and I'm good with it.  I am also aware of the financial backing necessary and have both personal and business sources ready.  I do have a couple of things I would like to ask and will send you an email to the address you provided above later today.  Thanks again.

          • Ray, you check out REOWarrior.com if you haven't already, the guy is active on this forum and does some unique services to help new REO agents market themselves better.  I'd also like to point out that many active REO agents do NOT do the conference thing at all.  I know one of my assistants is closing an REO a week and has never been to a conference.  You do however see most of the "big dogs" at these things.

            • Mike, I did hear about this company when I decided to attend the 5 Star...so I put it aside.  I've paid many companies for "smoke and mirror" promises, some of which have sent me a single bpo, much less a listing.   But I will look into this possibly before I leave.  Will look forward to seeing you at the Expo.

              • Stop by booth 212 and see us at the SSSN.  If you do short sales, we are interviewing new referral agents at the conference and hosting a training and new agent orientation Thursday at 5:00.  Hope to see you there!

                • I do short sales in Kentucky and would like more of them to do. I am in the Central Kentucky area.    I would love any referrals my way. Thanks, Mary Renfro
