If you had to choose just one...which is better...the REOMAC in hollywood or the FIVESTAR in Fort Worth?

In my experience I've walked away with something I didn't have before attending all the networking/business events. It might not have been a big thing or something I needed at the moment but can honestly say they have made a positive impact in one way or another. If you already have business, and have all the business you can handle then you probably don't need to attend. However, even when new business can't be attributed to a specific event you can always walk away with a gold nugget if you know where to look and how to "dig" for it. Many asset managers will tell you upfront they are not able to give you business but they will offer advice or referrals.

Hi Victor & Margaret. For me it’s about cost vs. value & time. I agree with Carlos that you can always take something away from any event, but was it WORTH the time & cost. Could you have spent the same amount of time and money promoting your business for a more significant gain? I don't need to fly to Texas or wherever to sit in seminar, there are plenty locally, or available online. Networking with decision makers? Those opportunities are somewhat limited at these events. If you have something set up prior with a contact who can make other connections for you then by all means go. If you are going there to walk the vendor floor and go to break out sessions..... What is your time worth?

Very good point Michael! Most times I go because someone has invited me or will be introduced to some key people. For example, this past weekend I had no intention of going anywhere but one of my fellow Citi asset managers twisted my arm by saying he would introduce me to some key people. Of course it doesn't hurt that he is also an REOMAC director. The event was definitely a good ROI as I met a lot of asset managers from other financial institutions, Flint included. It's good to live in Las Vegas!
