As all of us who have been in the REO field for a long time know there was a lull in 2011 and that is expected to be a surge again in 2012.  I would like to ask you all to tell me who you feel is worth your time and money for "pay to play" and I will gladly sign up with them or renew again and pay their top fee if I am going to get listings but I am so tired of being burned by up selling like on Equator who to date after three years of "PLATINUM" status did not get me one ounce of business.  So who will you sign up and pay this year?  RES.net AMP etc?  I am always willing to invest in my business but I sure am not foolish enough to just flush dollars down the drain.

  • Well, I guess I have mixed feelings about this however, I know some things to be true.

    1. I never pay to play on a platform...ie, Equator, RES.NET, etc.....

The reason I never pay to play on a platform provider is because I know this business is a relationship business and people don't become REO agents out of random luck or the chance that an Asset Manager is going to pick you out of a line up of other agents doing the same thing you're doing.

    2. I pay for training....even shitty training. (Yes, I said a dirty word but, trust me....some training out there is just that..shitty)

The reason I pay for training...even the bad training is because after my radio interviews for the REOCon Summit as well as my private personal conversations with all of these Asset Managers, AMP Owners, Presidents, Vice-Presidents...etc...I am learning....or should say, have learned that they appreciate seeing you invested in your own success. In fact, I had several AMP Presidents tell me, that they won't endorse a sepcific education program, designation or certification however, when they see on a resume that you have done it.....it's impressive none the less. For them, it's brand recognition so, look for the more popular education programs, and pay for it, attend the training and get the certification.

    3. I don't pay for leads

How many times have we seen these zillows, trulias, etc....charge $34.99 (that is on the cheap end) per zip code, with a minimum 6 month contract, and you have to pay 3 months up front, non-refundable......and they send us out leads.....or CRAP! I heard a man once say, why would I pay for your lead upfront if you yourself aren't even confident enough in the lead that it will close and allow me to pay you a referral fee upon closing? Good point!

    So there you go.....
