Which one to choose?

I would like to know from all the BPO certified agents, which institute's certification is the best or better than the other. NABPOP, NFSTI or the NVS institute for certification? Which one is regarded as the best in the industry or by Assett managers. Which one is more fruitful and helps you in obtaining more business.Any/All opinions will be appreciated.Thank you.Rashida.

  • I think any extra education you can get helps. I have both the RDCPro & NFSTI certifications & I'm working on 5 Star. They all really help you better understand the whole REO process. I've heard from some asset mgrs that cerfications do help & I've heard that it doesn't really matter. Some want to know that you've got the finances to do repairs if needed. I will let you know that Dan Waterman who owns & runs NFSTI is a great help, he used to be a Asset Mgr & his 2 day seminars are great for new REO Agents. Wish you the best.
  • I have always been of the opinion that education can or will help you further in not only your business but in life as well. I will also tell you that I taught in the public school system for 20 years, and I'm a firm believer in education.

However, having said that, I believe that it has gotten a little ridiculous out there with all of these "certifications". If it's going to help me in better performance, stronger standing with my colleagues or clients, or improve my skills and knowledge......I'm all for it. If it's just to add a few more letters at the end of my name........I don't do it.

As for asset managers recognizing them........I can only tell you what an asset manager told me about 7 years ago at a conference......."do your job, do it right, do it professionally, and do it on time, and you will continue to get business".

    AMEN BROTHER, AMEN !!
  • I can tell you that i am personally know about 2 of them, NABPOP and NFSTI. NABPOP was a great organization for a long time because they didn't have so many members. In other words, the fewer number of members, the more work each one got. Now, NABPOP is huge and unfortunately, the added value just isn't there anymore. In fact, i have heard complaints now that some people are not renewing membership just because they didn't get a deal one in the past 12 months.

NFSTI seems to be on that tipping point where some people are getting business while others aren't seeing anything. Part of the problem here is that if you are located in a large city with a large Realtor pool then most likely you aren't going to get much business, just because they have large membership from your city.

Good luck and keep us posted as to what you do and how it works for you.
