Fannie Mae Presentation in Nevada--listings, buyers, short sales

Posted on February 24, 2010 at 11:19pm 8 Comments

I went to a Fannie Mae presentation at my board today--not usually my gig (as an REO dragon, I usually sit in my cave breathing fire on damsels and sharpening my talons) but I thought that I could use the lunch.

WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE. If your board brings the Fannie Gurus in, definitely make the trip. There were 5 Fannie managers from across the nation--D.C. to Dallas to L.A. They gave an organized, dynamic presentation on what Fannie stands for, where they fit in the market, what… Continue

Long Distance Assets

Trudging through the snow for three hours in Sorels, snowboarding pants, a down jacket and a hat, you would think that I was on my way to the slopes. A day of skiing would have rocked, but I was making my weekly 300 mile round trip trek to a couple of out of area listings for one of my favorite asset managers.

They are great listings and I am glad to help (thankful for the business, too). In a small rural town almost 2 hours from my office. What I am…

REO Robin Hoods

I would love to have a blog going that talks about the GOOD GUYS in REO--here I'll start. . .

Raising my glass to servicers passing on cash offers in favor of OWNER OCCUPANCY!!! One of my favorite servicers is working towards an 80% owner occupancy in accepting offers. It is fantastic to be able to tell black and blue buyer's agents that their FHA buyers have a chance with these listings.

Three cheers for:

Agents who keep the lights on!

I Pay for Listings--but it is not what you think!

There has always been a cost to become a preferred REO broker on a network--there should be.

If it was free to train and become a preferred broker with an REO network, then every Tom, Dick and can't save a buck to save their life agent would be on there. REO is EXPENSIVE! In any given month, I write checks for $20,000+ for utilities, sewer, garbage, repairs, contractors, rehab, signage, marketing and staff. There were months last year, in the winter, when with snow removal and winter… Continue

Great time to buy in South Lake Tahoe.  Prices continue to decline as 50% of solds in the last 90 days are distressed sales.  Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

I love the way you write - do you have a degree in journalism? How is your inventory of REOs? We have dropped significantly & digging around for more has been a challenge. Any suggestions?

Yes business is great.

I am in the process of experienmenting w/ new systems...challenging myself to do what I do better.

Seriously...your blog had me @ fire breathing dragon. Sure great reading. But I have a strange visual about that dragon thing...that is my morning look. We should SKYPE...or maybe before and after is crazy.

Thank you.

Hi Pam,

I few in Friday night and took designation couses over the weekend. Jesse is right about the evening networking events being very important. I made a number of very good contacts and several AMs asked for my card and said they will be sending me assets. We'll have to see what happens. They asked me, I didn't offer it to them (a good sign) It was definitely a worthwhile trip.

I'm still trying to figure out if I can get caught up in time to go to REOMAC next month. I wish they weren't so close together. We are very busy.

Thanks for the contact.
