The Power of a Brand.

What is the importance of building a brand?

Brand Equity is the difference between what a branded item can charge over what an unbranded item can charge.

A product can be manufactured. A Brand is what the customer buys.

A product can be duplicated. A Brand is unique.

Think of it this way, when a person buys a brand, they aren't buying the product (which can be duplicated) they are buying the guarantee of…

Own Your Own Real Estate Business

No I am not trying to sell you a Real Estate Franchise or existing business. What I am selling is a mind set - a paradigm shift.

How many times, when people ask you what you do for a living, you respond with "I sell Real Estate"? Really, is that all you do?

What about the response, "I run a real estate business?" Could this be more accurate?

Think about it; when…

NSP Funds

Anyone else seeing an increase in activity due to NSP funds? We have a couple of non-profits using NSP funds to purchase low income properties. These non-profits are getting unlimited funds from the state government and are making full price offers on some pretty bad properties. Not a bad deal for the seller. The down side is that they are putting a lot of investors, you know, the guys that have been buying all of these blighted homes and the ones that will be buying them when the NSP funds…

The Bad

This is the second part of a 3 part series called "The Good, The Bad, and The Unexplainable."

The Bad - An REO Agents Worst Nightmare.

The South was recently plagued with extremely COLD WEATHER. At night temperatures reached as low as 8 degrees. This may be considered a warm winter to some of our REO brothers and sisters in the North but to us Southerners, it felt like we were in the Arctic Circle.

I received a new property around the first of December. The home… Continue

The Good

This is the first part of a three part series I will call, "The Good, The Bad, and The Unexplainable."

We will start with the Good - Why I Love This Job.

As REO Agents we are often the first person to inform an unsuspecting tenant that the home they are living in has been foreclosed on. This can be a difficult, and sometimes heartbreaking task (but that's why we make the big bucks, right?). We do it so often that we can become jaded to the situation. I admit that I am… Continue

"One of These Days"

2009 Invoice Spreadsheet.xlsx

How many times in your life have you said "one of these days"? One of these days I am going to save some money. One of these days I am going to lose weight, travel Europe, start a blog. The reality is is that it will never happen.....UNLESS you actually do it.

My "one of these days" was getting organized. I kept saying it as if by doing so, magically one… Continue

Do Unto Others.

I am sure you know the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I believe that all mom's teach their children this in hopes that it will keep them out of trouble, and that just maybe they will treat others fairly.

Not only is this a good Biblical rule to follow because it teaches you how to treat others (unless you like being treated like crap), but most often we are rewarded with reciprocity.

Reciprocity Principal: The tendency for people to treat… Continue

Are Virtual Tour Sevices Worth What You Pay For Them?

Are virtual tour services worth what you pay for them? Answer: Yes. Especially if you use the same virtual tour service I use because it is FREE. What service do I use, YouTube.

That's right. I use YouTube to post virtual tours of my property listings. It's free and it is easy. No expensive service required. I take my camera, film as I walk through the house (I typically do a video of the front and then one walking through the house), upload to my computer and then upload to YouTube.… Continue
