As a REO agent there are multiple tasks to manage. Through the evolution of methods and systems the written daily "To Do" list is a classic never fail task manager that works. Gather your tasks and intergrate them into a written "To Do" list to be monitored and completed every day.

How it works:

1. Invest in paper and ink. You can use a note pad and pencil or a printout from synced up calendar database.

2. Make a list of current tasks and view the prior day's incomplete task.

3. Assign a catagory of importance and a timeframe to complete.

4. Schedule out your day referring to your calendar and tasks.

Through out your day you can monitor, complete a task by checking it off your To Do list and keep yourself accountable for every minute.

A well organized REO agent that masters their daily tasks by using a To Do list will be prepared for growth and opportunity. A basic concept some what lost in modern technology..you can recycle your paper list or store it for future reference.

  • I use my Blackberry Outlook calendar all the time. Keeps me straight for the month but I also have 3 huge dry erase boards. I call them my "War Boards". It's a running snapshot of my business that keeps me very organized. I got the idea from watching a show about aircraft carriers on the Military Channel. That's basically how they manage their aircraft.
  • I can't even function without my list, it has been that way in last 5 years. FranklinCovey havs the best daily planners.
    Good point Dennis.
  • Good thoughts Denise!
My wife and I have used this in all aspects of our lives. We even have a daily to do list for our kids. We have done this for so long I don't think I could function without it. LOL
  • If you can function without a 'to do' list, you probably aren't doing much of anything. I'm newly in love with the yahoo calendar. It keeps reminders in the screen tray the whole time you are using it.
  • Good comment Denise. I have been in the REO business for over 20 years. That is all myself and my team do. I have found that I use my outlook and schedule out for a month ahead. I have all of my BPO's and MMR's, or other task scheduled 2-5 days before they are due. I schedule follow up for closings every 3 days. Without this kind of scheduling I could not keep up as fast as we work now. We have come a long way from paste up photos and overnight mail and fax. If I had not scheduled this way I could not have lasted with all of the changes in the systems.

  • It is nice to organize the craziness. I am a believer.
  • My whole life is a "to do" list, use them for reo, as well as standard sales, keeping track of my agent's transactions, and my home life i.e. daughter needs poster board etc. Great reminder for everyone.
  • This is a great reminder! In Real Estate Period it is important that we manage our time, but for REOs it is imperative to get tasks before they are due. So, a To Do List is mandatory!
  • I agree Denise, I live by my TO DO list!
  • great tips
