Housing is a right?

Are Liberal Progressive Government policies pushing America toward a Federal takeover of housing?

I know for many of us, this question seems crazy however, make no mistake, Progressive Liberals would love to see America provide housing to each and every person in America, citizen or not. In fact, Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced this idea to America by including, “the right of every family to a decent home” as his 5th right in his proposed Second Bill of Rights.

So, would it be possible for the Government to just take over the housing industry and, promise everyone a home? It is not only possible, it’s happening and it’s taking place under the guise of “Housing Recovery” and the instrument which will be used to do the takeover is TARP.

Back in October of 2008, TARP was used to stabilize the financial institutions after their delinquent mortgages they were holding came close to causing these banks to melt down. What many people don’t realize is, this meltdown was a direct cause of Government regulation. I don’t want to bore you with all the details however, all you need to do is bring up Google and type, Community Reinvestment Act. Read for yourself how the Fed’s forced lenders to adopt risky loan practices and allowed community organizations similar to Acorn to dictate to these services how many loans they had to make and to whom they went to. I know that sounds crazy…..and, I am sure I am sounding like a broken record but, these banks and servicers didn’t make risky loans because they were greedy, like the media have you believe, they did it because they were mandated to do it.

Why would the government allow citizens to dictate how a bank would give out loans? It’s all part of the progressive evolution of this country. It was set into motion by F.D.R. Progressives knew they couldn’t revolutionize our country, Americans lover freedom too much however, they knew they could slowly progress us away from our “inadequate” Bill of Rights and Constitution with small steps and Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and the Federal Reserve were all part of the larger picture. To put a chill down your spine, let me give you a quote to further my point.

Franklin Roosevelt said in his radio address to the nation in January 1944.

“This Republic (the United States of America) had its beginning and, grew to its present strength, under the protection of certain inalienable political rights – among them the right of free speech, free press, free worship, trial by jury, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. They were our rights to life and liberty.

As our nation has grown in size and stature, however, - as our industrial economy expanded these political rights proved inadequate to assure us equality in the pursuit of happiness.”

You may not have known this was an agenda item on the Progressive left but, let me assure you, it is. It is my opinion, Progressive Liberals are using this Housing Crisis to their advantage. In fact, I am of the opinion that this crisis is engineered by Progressive Liberals. For those of you reading this thinking to yourself, it’s not possible, it could never happen, well……have you seen this?

http://banking.senate.gov/public/_files/ChairmansMark31510AYO10306_xmlFinancialReformLegislationBill.pdf

It’s a new bill being floated around, pay special attention to Title III, TRANSFER OF POWER TO THE COMPTROLLER OF THE CURRENCY, THE CORPORATION, AND THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS. This bill is laying the groundwork for a true and complete takeover of the financial institutions and likewise, as exemplified with Bank of America, the Government will mandate to banks that they have to “forgive debt” or “lower payments”. All that sounds good on its face value but, who do you think is paying for all this “forgiveness” and “lower payments”………………………YOU ARE, THE AMERICAN TAX PAYER.

Now, I do believe that President Obama is a FDR Progressive Liberal. I can give you quotes and examples of this, just let me know if you need them. Because he is a FDR Progressive Liberal, he believes everyone should have a decent home and he is going to use the American Tax Payer to redistribute the wealth of this country through the Progressive Liberal engineered Housing Crisis to make it happen. Did you read what the White House said yesterday? Just in case you missed it, let me tell you.

“The White House plans to announce on Friday that it will require lenders to lower the mortgage payments of some unemployed workers and encourage lenders to eliminate some principal debt of homeowners who owe more than their home is worth, sources familiar with the plan said Thursday.”

http://www.foxbusiness.com/story/markets/industries/government/update--white-house-announce-housing-aid-friday--sources-493713530/

All of that sounds great till you figure out who is paying for it. Make no mistake, I am all about helping the down and out, let’s not forget, I know what it is like to live in a shelter for a year in six months. I know what it’s like to have a single parent with 2 jobs and you as the eldest child had to take care of younger sibilings, I know what it’s like to live with 5 people in a one room apartment in the worse part of town you can imagine…I know because I have personally been there. In fact, I still have family members that are still living that life and my heart breaks every single day for them but, no matter how hard things get, no matter how bad the outlook appears today, we are Americans, we love Freedom and Liberty and Roosevelt was wrong in 1944 and his Progressive Liberals are wrong today.

Homeownership is not a right, it is a privilege, an honor, an accomplishment, you have to work hard to own a home. In fact, because homeownership has been so easy for so many, I walk into homes that have been abandoned and abused because the homeowners didn’t care or couldn’t afford the maintenance on the home, either way…..it’s wrong!

  • Hi Jesse, thanks for all of your wonderful blogs and keeping me up to date. I have been in real estate for ten years and when I first started real estate I thought to myself, "I am not a salesperson, can I really do this?" I started feeling pretty good and making tons of money and anyone who called on my ads pretty much found a product or way to buy a house one way or another. Wow, I must be a heck of a salesperson, so I thought. But then back in 2000 being a new Realtor, I even thought how crazy house prices kept going up and up and was thankful I didn't have to buy a house back then. Thinking now, it was no wonder we are in the mess we are in. People always wanted more than they could afford, took out seconds to pay off their credit cards, cars, etc., lived a posh life.

It is not only the government or banks giving these liar loans, but these people getting these loans should have never taken them out in the first place in my opinion, "which is just an opinion," and never really had the intention to pay these banks back! And now we are bailing them out with your tax money Jesse! Shouldn't the hard working people get principle reductions just for being an American, jk? Ok, I hope no one takes this offensively but politics seem to get me going and part of this is just opinions. Have a great day everyone!
  • You are dead on Jesse! I saw the writing on the wall in 2003 when the RE prices shot out of sight and anyone with a pulse could get a home loan or two. This was to get peoples home equity $$ and their $$ in the stock market ie 401K's, what I didn't know was what to call it. But the next President knew it was "spreading the wealth". The machine is moving quickly and sucking up our Freedoms. We are no longer individuals but a mass with new masters taking care of their flock. The progressives are killing our Traditional American way of life and no one cares?? Except Glen Beck???
  • I have been telling everyone for the last 2 years that we are headed exactly where this government is headed that they want to give everyone who can't afford a home the home they live and the 92% of American people who have been paying their mortgage are the ones who will suffer by paying more taxes to enable the non-paying consumer a lower rate, reduced princple on there mortgage just so we can please the Liberal agenda setforth by this adminstration. Just ask the Asset Manager who blog that every American who owns a home should stop making there payment as well. They cant foreclosure on the entire county can they. Can anyone say Tea Party
  • Housing for everyone may sound great - but it isn't. There is no guarantee that everyone will have a home, health insurance, car, etc.
  • Home ownership IS a right in this country.........If you can pay for it you can own it!!! And once we see that right morph into something that is governmentally owed to us we will be done with. We are currently witnessing every facet of the “American Way” methodically and systematically destroyed. Capitalism is going by the wayside and “Hello Socialism”. The ONLY Americans that will benefit from ANY redistribution of wealth are the ones that refuse to work for it in the first place.

I have always laughed at the hard core political mongers who state that we are the brink of civil war and the government is not for the people……I’m not laughing anymore! The government has now separated from the people and rules, laws and rights that are being pushed to the people do not pertain to them. I won’t get up on a soap box because we can all hear these conversations on street corners, bars, the workplace and in the home but this is the first time in my 48 years that I am actually worried.
  • I heard the announcement today regarding no payments for the unemployed and principal reduction. Obama said in his campaign that he would "spread the wealth around" and that is exactly what he is doing.
  • I totally agree. Home ownership is a privilege not a right. My parents home was not always worth what they payed for it and sometimes it was worth a lot more. This government needs to worry about creating jobs and not bailing everybody out. Our country now borrows about .60 of every dollar spent and is only going to get worse.
  • I saw this coming back in the 60's - for those of you who do not remember John Lennon's song "Revolution" - here are the lyrics

    Revolution Lyrics

You say you want a revolution
    Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
    Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out?

Don't you know it's gonna be
    Alright?
    Alright?
    Alright?

You say you've got a real solution
    Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
    Well, you know
We are doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is, brother, you'll have to wait

Don't you know it's gonna be
    Alright?
    Alright?
    Alright?

You say you'll change the constitution
    Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
    Well, you know
You'd better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow

Don't you know it's gonna be
    Alright?
    Alright?
    Alright?
    Alright?
    Alright?
    Alright?
The people in Congress are the very ones that were the radical in the 60's and believe me I remember Bill Ayres
  • Nope Steve, I haven't been seeing your wife, she is way above my pay grade!

I really do think the Government is going to use the charitable nature of Americans to justify how these big bank banks should be forced to forgive the debt on these unemployed or underwater homeowners because it's the morally right thing to do. I personally don't agree with that philosophy because I know in the end, all that is happening is our Government is going to bailout these banks with tax payer dollars and ultimately take my money to give to unemployed worker John Smith. My aversion to this is not because it's morally sound but, because the problem originated with the Government through the Community Reinvestment Act so, it was wrong from the start. Hasn't anyone learned, 2 wrongs don't make a right!

By the way, tell your wife I said hi.
  • Some times Jesse you just scare the hell out of me! lol Not because of the topic matter, but for the fact that the wife and I were talking about this exact same thing last night at dinner. Have you been seeing my wife?

I noticed the signs also this week and I feel you are pretty dang close to the truth. The federal govt has already made the move to control health care, I read about the new bill to control the financial industry, already millions of homes are owned by the federally back GSE's and that number is growing every day. I'm also hearing stuff on a federal job's program......all controlled by the federal govt..

The signs are there for everyone to see! And they are scary!
