I just got an email from and REO company about a now mandatory class which all brokers must attend. It's a great company which feeds me a lot of business but geez we are always forking out money to REO/BPO companies hoping and praying that we might get some business. Then I got an email from GRC saying the same thing! Citi popped the default course on us last month as well. I think I have more certifications and have payed for more business then I receive. Not good! These companies are 2 of the prominent ones which I don't mind paying for but everyone else can kick rocks! I always see different companies popping up and within 1 year they are shutting down; but they will encourage brokers to register here, guaranteed this, promise you that, just a bunch of bologna. I'm just tired of the mess and if you are going to ask us to get trained and support your cause, well Asset Management Companies DO THE SAME! I am done venting. This is giving me a headache....

  • Thank you Marqueze and Chrissi
for taking the time to respond. I will look into res.net.
  • @Rosie Garcia Make sure you are on res.net. Citi has no portal that I know of. (This is also after asking an AM of Citi as well) They only go through res.net and if you attend 5 star this Sept Citi 9/10 will be there. This is a good place to get in the door with Citi and many other. This is how I got in with Citi 4 years ago and we have been rolling since. (Hadn't we Reg! LOL) Good luck with this. Let me know if I can help. Take care.
  • @Chrissi Jasso"Those that have paid their dues and have been doing this for years have burned the midnight oil for sometime to get here today and you don't normally earn your place in REO by lack of hard work, education, and jumping through the necessary hoops the banks ask of us when they say jump! Although I can get tired and stressed at times, I LOVE what I do, so pay for your classes!" Chissi, I am that broker which you are referring to. With 100k in operating funds a full reo team and several of REO sales and listings and bpos a month; this b.s mom and pop A.M. companies are pulling is old! Not only am I an REO broker I am a very prominent business owner and one thing I know is BUSINESS! This is bad business practice and I didn't learn while earing college degrees this is just common sense. If you ask anyone on this site about paying for uness. payments we are all sick of it. So I ask you humbly can you pay my dues from now on? Seems like you are very sweet and/or very rich since you have no problem with companies like i.e. abso. reo collecting payment from you to sell REOs...As for my ship, we are not having it! We only invest in what makes sense. Busi. Econ 202! Happy selling to you and yours. I hope your tactics pay off for you. Oh and Reggie you are right. No one has said anything about the 5 star Certification. I have only heard about the RDCPro certificate which is obtained through default school. @ James Foster you are absolutely right! PAY PAY AND PAY SOME MORE LOL@
  • While having to pay to do the training courses can seem a bit much at times, I do agree that it is weeding out a few that may need to be in the end. To be honest, if you can't afford the training, REO isn't a ballpark you should be playing in. This is a tough, live and breathe it, 24/7 job, that should be for the strong to survive! For those that are jumping on board as of recent and are serious and want to make this a living and not a bandwagon attempt, welcome, but this isn't a short term fix to "just make do" when the tides have turned. Those that have paid their dues and have been doing this for years have burned the midnight oil for sometime to get here today and you don't normally earn your place in REO by lack of hard work, education, and jumping through the necessary hoops the banks ask of us when they say jump! Although I can get tired and stressed at times, I LOVE what I do, so pay for your classes! Because if you don't, someone else will and could take away your potential business! A final note, this is a great forum to ask questions, so if you have a company that you may be leary of paying the fee and not sure of the benefit in the end, ask! Most of us have paid for things to see it as a waste and have been taken advantage of to see nothing in the end. The power of Networking!
  • The way I see it is that the major players (PAS, Citi, IndyMac, Old Republic, etc) are weeding out the wanna be REO Professionals. You know the one's that are just trying to stay alive until something happens. They are all requiring some sort of specific training at $400 a pop which are all the same, but they all stem from having different relationships with a buddy who says " I have a great idea! I start a training program and then you can send all your brokers to me and I can make some serious cash" and therefore all of these different training resources and progrmas appear. One thing I have noticed is no one has required the Five Star Certification. Hmmmmmm!!!!
  • If you guys are signed up with RES.NET you are on Citi's list. I am a preferred broker with Citi and when asking the A.M. how she found me she replied through 5 star 1st, then on res.net
  • Rosie, From what I know you have to be on the Citi preferred list, or at least what I have been told. I have been with them for years, so not sure how you would sign up. This is the address where you could start researching on a way to sign up

  • Pay Pay and Pay some more.
