When is the Best Time to Move?
Ideal Time
Most suggested time for moving is spring or late fall. It is easier to find and hire movers and when rental companies are not charging the highest rates. The times to avoid are weekends when moving are at its peak. But most of us will have to consider in moving weekends such as kids is in school, due to jobs.
School Calendar
Summer is most ideal time, as children have completed the school year and have said their goodbyes to school and to the neighbor’s friends and the weather is almost guaranteed to be perfect and friends are available to help. If you already set the time of the moving, allow a few weeks or days at the new destination for children to unpack and meet new neighborhood friends. It will be better prepared for their new home.
Also take a time or few days for you and your child to get around to the new school, have them meet some teachers and find appropriate transportation for both you and your child will be better prepared for your new environment.
Holidays and Special Occasions
Avoid moving before major holidays as possible, such as Christmas or New Year since part of such holidays is being with family and friends. Also family events can also be difficult like birthdays or anniversaries. Better for you and to your family before to leaving, save your move after the holidays to provide a perfect opportunity for goodbyes.
